Hyderabad is the fifth largest city in India, offering a multitude of attractions and activities for all kinds of tourism. Amongst places to visit is the Charminar, located in the old town; it is a major landmark of the city, a building of Muslim architecture built between four minarets. The Golconda Fort perched on top of a hill, is one of the most magnificent fortresses in India, its location and design renders it one of the strongest forts in the world. The Falaknuma Palace is another majestic and stunning architectural feat, created by an Italian architect under the request of Nawab Viqar al-Umra' one of the Paigah nobles. The palace is complete with Louis XVI –style décor, lavish Mughal atmosphere, Italian marble staircases and ornate fountains.

There are also some beautiful museums to visit, teeming with ancient art and cultural vestiges. One of the most important is the Salar Jung Museum, housing one of the largest collection of antiques in the world. Amongst the collections you may find ‘The Veiled Rebecca’, including a vast collection of century-old artifacts.

The city of Hyderbad has, nowadays become a center of important technological development, which can be further appreciated at the Birla Science Museum, a science center illustrating the accomplishments made in science and technology. This magnificent structure is divided in a number of sections, such as the Science Museum, the Planetarium, and the center for applied mathematics and Computer Sciences. You may also take a stroll through the Hitech City, which stands for Hyderabad Information Technology Engineering Consultancy City. This site is a major technology township center of the information technology of Hyderabad.

For a more relaxed visit take a walk through the Lumbini Park, one of the most popular parks in the city. There was once a Musical fountain, which has now been replaced by a 1500-seater Laserium. You may take boat rides across the lake to get a closer look at the imposing Buddha rising up from the waters. The statue of the Buddha on the Hussain Sagar Lake is nineteen feet tall and is right in the middle of this artificial lake dominating beautiful gardens.

For a closer look at the genuine Hyderabadis activities, take a stroll on Necklace road, a popular street that lies on the other side of the lake, between the Imax theatre and the Sanivaiah Park. This is a converging site for the local people, providing a scenic atmosphere, complete with lush lawns and rows of beautifully tended flowers. Famous restaurants on the ‘Strip’ are the ‘Eat-Street’ and the ‘Water Front’. You may also admire the ‘Jala Vihar’ a mini water world specially designed to compliment this idyllic setting.

For exclusive arts and crafts shopping make sure you visit the Shilparamam, situated opposite the Cyber towers in the Hitech City. Here you will find a genuine environment of preserved traditional crafts and stone sculptures, woven cotton, silk and gold thread as well as Kondapalli toys, Dhaka muslin, gudda-guddis of Punjab, Bankura horses, temple arts and a variety of other Indian arts and crafts.
